Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

1. Introduction

Driftwords is operated by Charith De Silva. In this Privacy Policy, “Driftwords,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Charith De Silva operating the Driftwords game.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, disclosed, and protected when you use the Driftwords mobile application, website, and related services (together, the “Services”).

Driftwords is a word game. There is no sign-in, no account, no social integration, and no backend server operated by us. The game runs entirely on your device.

Because of this, we do not collect your personal information ourselves. The only third party that receives information from the app is our advertising provider, Google AdMob, as described in section 5.

By using the Services, you acknowledge that your information will be handled as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

2. Information We Collect

Information stored on your device

To save your game, Driftwords stores the following on your device only:

  • your progress, such as completed levels and scores;
  • settings and preferences, such as sound and display options;
  • basic app state needed to resume where you left off, and to decide when ads are shown.

This data never leaves your device and is never sent to us. We cannot see it, access it, or recover it.

Advertising information

Driftwords shows banner and interstitial ads through Google AdMob. When ads are requested and shown, AdMob may collect your device’s advertising identifier (where permitted), IP address, device information (such as device model, operating system, and language), app information, approximate location derived from your IP address, and ad interaction data. This information is collected by Google, not by us. See section 5.

App store information

When you download Driftwords, the Apple App Store or Google Play handles the download under its own privacy policy. These stores may share aggregated, non-identifying statistics with us, such as download counts, crash reports, and app ratings, depending on your device and store settings.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

Driftwords does not ask for, collect, or store on any server:

  • your name, email address, or phone number;
  • any account, username, or password;
  • your contacts or address book;
  • your precise location;
  • photos, camera, or microphone data;
  • social network accounts or friend lists (we do not integrate Facebook, TikTok, or similar social platforms);
  • your gameplay progress or results.

4. How Information Is Used

Information stored on your device is used to:

  • save and restore your progress and settings;
  • run the game and its levels;
  • control how often ads appear.

Information collected by AdMob is used to show ads, measure them, limit how often you see them, and prevent ad fraud.

Aggregated statistics from the app stores are used to fix bugs and improve the game.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.

5. Advertising and Tracking

Driftwords is free to play and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. A banner ad may be shown on some screens, and full-screen interstitial ads may appear at natural breaks, such as between levels.

AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, device information, and ad interaction data. Google uses this information under its own policies: How Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Your choices

  • iOS: We ask for permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before your advertising identifier can be used for tracking. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be less personalized. You can change this anytime in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
  • Android: You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your device’s Google settings.
  • EEA, UK, and Switzerland: Where required, we ask for your consent to personalized advertising through a consent message before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice in Settings.

We do not use ads to collect your name, email, or contacts.

6. Service Providers and International Transfers

We use these providers to deliver the Services:

Provider Purpose
Google AdMob Advertising
Apple (App Store) App distribution
Google (Google Play) App distribution

We may add, remove, or replace providers as needed, and will update this policy if we do. Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy policy.

We do not operate any servers that store information about you. Our providers may process information in other countries, including the United States. Where required by law, they rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

7. Local Storage, Website, and Cookies

Local storage on your device

All game data is stored locally on your device. It is not backed up to us and cannot be transferred between devices by us. Deleting the app, or clearing its data, permanently removes your progress and settings. Your device’s own backup service (such as iCloud or Google backup) may include this data, depending on your device settings.

Website and cookies

Our website is informational and has no user login. It is hosted on WordPress, and our hosting provider may automatically log standard technical information, such as IP address and browser type, for security and to keep the site running. We do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies on it. If this changes, we will update this policy.

8. Legal Bases, Retention, Your Rights, and Deletion

Legal bases

Where data protection laws require a legal basis (for example, in the EEA, UK, or under Sri Lanka’s Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022), the following apply:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the game and save your progress on your device;
  • Legitimate interests: to show non-personalized ads that keep the game free, prevent ad fraud, fix bugs, and improve the game;
  • Consent: for personalized advertising and tracking where required; you can withdraw it anytime.

Retention

  • Game data on your device: until you delete the app or clear its data.
  • Advertising data: retained by Google under its own retention policies.
  • Website logs: retained by our hosting provider under its own policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your information; to restrict or object to processing; to withdraw consent; and to complain to a data protection authority. In Sri Lanka, this is the Data Protection Authority of Sri Lanka. In the EU or UK, it is your local supervisory authority.

Because we do not hold any personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, export, or delete on our side. For information collected by Google for advertising, you can use the controls in section 5 or visit My Ad Center. If you have a question or request, email support@flux78.com and we will help where we can.

Deleting your data

You can delete all Driftwords game data at any time by deleting the app or clearing its data in your device settings. There is no account to delete.

9. Children’s Privacy

Driftwords is intended for users aged 13 and older. Users aged 13 to 17 should use the Services with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and the game does not collect personal information from any user itself. If you believe a child under 13 is using Driftwords, please contact us at support@flux78.com.

10. Security

Driftwords keeps your game data on your device and does not send it to any server we operate, which limits what could be exposed. Communication between the app and our ad provider uses encrypted connections. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Do Not Track

There is no uniform standard for “Do Not Track” signals, so we do not currently respond to them. Use the ad choices in section 5 instead.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will change the “Last updated” date when we do. For material changes, such as adding sign-in, online features, or new data collection, we will give additional notice where required, such as in the app. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the updated policy.
